Eclipse City Server Rules

All players must read, understand, and follow these rules. By playing on Eclipse City you agree to abide by everything listed below. Ignorance of a rule is not a defence.

1.0

Staff Discretion

Staff discretion means that sometimes, staff may issue bans or disciplinary intervention based on reasons not directly or specifically mentioned in this document. Staff discretion is not used lightly and generally will involve discussion amongst several staff members handling the matter.

  • Discretion may be used to handle toxic and/or harmful actions or situations — including bullying, harassment, and out-of-server toxicity.
  • Staff may use their discretion to protect the reputation and image of the community.
  • Discretion is used with the best interests of the greater community in mind — players, community, and the server's infrastructure.
  • Staff consult each other to ensure multiple perspectives are heard before making discretionary decisions.
2.0

Community Behaviour

As a member of Eclipse City you are expected to represent the community positively. Derogatory comments about community members in outside Discord servers, Twitch chat, on stream, or elsewhere will not be tolerated.

2.1 Behavioral Standards

CRITICAL 2.1.1 Respect All Community Members

Treat all players, staff, and community members with respect. Harassment, toxicity, bullying, or targeted negativity will not be tolerated.

HIGH 2.1.2 Positive Community Representation

You represent Eclipse City wherever you go. Do not make derogatory comments about other community members in outside Discord servers, Twitch chat, on stream, or any public platform.

HIGH 2.1.3 No Drama or Toxicity

Do not create, encourage, or participate in drama. Keep personal conflicts private and handle issues maturely through proper channels.

CRITICAL 2.1.4 Follow Staff Directions

Always comply with staff instructions. If you disagree with a decision, appeal through proper channels — but you must follow the directive in the moment.

MODERATE 2.1.5 Constructive Feedback Only

Feedback is welcome when delivered respectfully through appropriate channels. Public complaints, ranting, or unconstructive criticism is not allowed.

CRITICAL 2.1.6 No Doxxing or Privacy Violations

Sharing personal information about another player without consent is strictly forbidden. This includes real names, addresses, photos, social media, etc.

2.2 Discrimination

Zero-Tolerance Policy: Any form of discrimination or harassment is strictly prohibited. This includes behaviour directed at any player based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic. "It's just RP" is not an excuse.

CRITICAL 2.2.3 Slurs & Derogatory Language

Use of slurs, hate speech, or derogatory stereotypes is forbidden at all times — in-game, in Discord, and on any connected platform.

CRITICAL 2.2.5 Hate Symbols & Imagery

Displaying, creating, or using hate symbols, extremist imagery, or discriminatory iconography in clothing, vehicles, graffiti, or any RP scenario is not permitted.

CRITICAL 2.2.6 Discriminatory RP Scenarios

Storylines or characters built around racism, bigotry, extremist ideology, or hate-based groups are prohibited.

CRITICAL 2.2.9 Enforcement & Penalties

Penalties may include warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans depending on severity, repetition, and intent. Severe discrimination or hate speech will result in immediate removal.

2.3 Faction Discords

CRITICAL2.3.2 — Every faction or gang Discord must include at least one Eclipse City staff member with full visibility of all channels.
HIGH2.3.3 — Players must submit a staff ticket before opening a faction Discord server so an oversight member can be assigned.

2.4 Poaching

No Poaching: Actively trying to convince, recruit, or pressure Eclipse City players to leave for another FiveM server is not allowed. Advertising other servers — by link, name, Discord invite, or coded reference — in the Eclipse City Discord or in-game is strictly prohibited. This also applies through Discord DMs and connected social platforms.

3.0

User Restrictions

We welcome players of all backgrounds including LGBTQ+ players. However, all players must meet the following criteria to play on Eclipse City.

Age Requirement

You must be 16 years or older to play.

CRITICAL

English Required

You must be able to speak English. A second language character is allowed but English must be primary.

CRITICAL

Microphone Required

A working microphone is required. If you cannot speak due to disability, raise a ticket — exceptions can be made.

CRITICAL

Microphone Quality

If your mic quality makes you impossible to understand or negatively affects RP, staff may pull you into a ticket to discuss.

HIGH
4.0

Rule Infractions & Disciplinary Process

Eclipse City follows a structured disciplinary process. All players are responsible for knowing the rules — ignorance is not a defence.

4.1 Reporting Rule Breaks

CRITICAL4.1.1 — Use a staff ticket in the Eclipse City Discord to report rule breaks. Do not DM staff directly.
HIGH4.1.2 — Evidence (clips, screenshots) is strongly encouraged and greatly helps investigations.
HIGH4.1.3 — Do not DM or @ staff members with player reports. Doing so may result in a warning.
HIGH4.1.4 — To report a staff member, message one person ranked Admin or higher only.
CRITICAL4.1.5 — Remain in character at all times even when a rule has been broken. Use /ooc if you need to disengage, then F8 quit and raise a ticket.
CRITICAL4.1.6 — Once you report a player, that matter must remain strictly OOC. Do not reference it in RP in any form.
CRITICAL4.1.7 — No baiting or ban-hunting. Deliberately provoking players into breaking rules is prohibited.

4.2 Staff Sits

CRITICAL4.2.1 — Staff sits are handled through Discord tickets. Staff will add you to a ticket when needed.
CRITICAL4.2.2 — You must respond to staff tickets within a reasonable timeframe after finishing your current RP.
HIGH4.2.4 — If you fail to respond after a reasonable time and aren't in an active scenario, you may receive a red screen warning or kick.
CRITICAL4.2.5 — Unreasonable delays in responding to a staff sit may result in a temporary ban until you attend.
CRITICAL4.2.6 — Avoiding a staff sit will result in disciplinary action. If you can't respond immediately, acknowledge the ticket and inform staff when you'll return.
CRITICAL4.2.7 — Intentionally avoiding a staff sit can result in a 24-hour to permanent ban depending on severity.
CRITICAL4.2.9 — All staff rulings are final. Undermining staff based on gender, rank, or similar factors will not be tolerated.

4.3 Kicks & Warnings

HIGH4.3.1 — Staff may issue a server kick depending on the severity of the rule break.
HIGH4.3.2 — If kicked, immediately check the Discord — staff may have opened a ticket to speak with you.
MODERATE4.3.4 — Informal warnings may be delivered via DM, in-server messages, or red screen notifications for minor infractions.
HIGH4.3.5 — Formal warnings are issued through staff portals and serve as official documented records of misconduct.

4.4 Bans

Ban Evasion (4.4.2): Any form of ban evasion is a serious violation and will result in further disciplinary action, often a permanent ban.

HIGH4.4.1 — Most bans are explained through a Discord staff sit ticket.
MODERATE4.4.3 — Some bans may be appealed depending on type and severity of the infraction.
MODERATE4.4.4 — Bans longer than one week require a cooling-off period before an appeal will be considered.
HIGH4.4.5 — Permanent bans may only be appealed after 30 days. Another community member may submit the appeal on your behalf.
CRITICAL4.4.6 — Certain bans cannot be appealed. These involve severe misconduct such as OOC harassment, sexual harassment, or behaviour that endangers the community.
HIGH4.4.8 — Players serving temporary bans (under 30 days) keep Discord access. Disruptive behaviour during a ban may result in muting or removal.
5.0

Character Creation

HIGH 5.1 Setting & Timeframe

Characters must be people who would reasonably live in 2025 Eclipse City. Rare exceptions require staff approval via ticket.

HIGH 5.2 Character Names

Some joke names are allowed but crude, sexual, or offensive names are prohibited. Staff may change your character's name if deemed inappropriate.

HIGH 5.4 Character Backstory

Your backstory must be reasonable and believable for Eclipse City. Backstories from other servers are not transferable.

CRITICAL 5.6 Age Requirement

All characters must be over the age of 18.

HIGH 5.7 Character Creation Effort

Characters must be fully created in the character menu including face, hair, and clothing. Default characters ("Default Danny") are not permitted.

CRITICAL 5.11 Public Nudity

Players found wandering around naked in public without a legitimate IC reason will face bans.

6.0

Roleplay

Roleplay is the foundation of our community. All players must prioritise realistic and immersive interactions.

CRITICAL 6.1 Roleplay at All Times

Stay in character at all times. Breaking character is only allowed in designated OOC areas or when directed by staff.

CRITICAL 6.3 Powergaming

Do not force actions on others without giving them a chance to respond. No emoting unrealistic superhuman abilities.

CRITICAL 6.4 Metagaming

Using information your character wouldn't know (Discord, streams, other characters) is strictly forbidden.

CRITICAL 6.5 Value of Life

Value your character's life. If outnumbered, at gunpoint, or in danger — act accordingly. Do not recklessly risk your life.

CRITICAL 6.6 Fear RP

Show realistic fear when threatened. If a weapon is aimed at you, comply with demands unless you have a valid tactical advantage.

CRITICAL 6.7 New Life Rule (NLR)

If your character dies, you forget everything about that scenario. You cannot return to the area for 15 minutes and cannot seek revenge.

CRITICAL 6.9 VDM

Using your vehicle as a weapon to harm or kill players without valid RP reason is prohibited.

CRITICAL 6.10 RDM

Killing or attacking another player without valid RP reason or initiation is strictly forbidden.

CRITICAL 6.13 Erotic RP (ERP)

Explicit sexual roleplay is strictly prohibited. Romantic relationships must remain tasteful and fade-to-black when appropriate.

7.0

Combat & Conflict

Combat scenarios must be handled with care and proper roleplay. Quality over quantity.

CRITICAL7.1 Combat Logging — Disconnecting during active RP, combat, or while being chased/detained is prohibited.
CRITICAL7.2 Combat Initiation — All combat must be initiated with proper roleplay with clear context. "Hands up or die" alone is not sufficient.
HIGH7.3 Third-Party Involvement — You cannot insert yourself into an active situation without proper RP reason.
CRITICAL7.4 Green Zones — Designated safe areas (hospitals, government buildings, PD lobbies) are combat-free. No hostile actions unless authorised by staff.
HIGH7.5 Hostage Situations — Hostages must be actual players who consented to the role. Negotiate realistically.
MODERATE7.6 Robbery Cooldowns — You cannot rob the same person or group within 2 hours.
HIGH7.7 Police Baiting — Intentionally provoking police for shootouts without proper RP reason is prohibited. Create stories, not battles.
HIGH7.8 Gang Wars — Large-scale conflicts must be approved and coordinated with staff.
HIGH7.10 Weapon Restrictions — Use weapons appropriate to your character. Civilians should not have military-grade weapons without exceptional RP justification.
CRITICAL7.11 Explosives — Explosives can only be used in approved scenarios or heists. Random use in public areas is prohibited.
8.0

Medical RP

HIGH8.1 Injury Roleplay — Roleplay injuries realistically. If shot, stabbed, or in a serious accident, act accordingly.
HIGH8.2 Medical Assistance — Wait for EMS when downed unless the server timer runs out or EMS states they cannot respond.
MODERATE8.3 Downed State — You can speak while downed but must roleplay pain. You cannot give tactical information or identify attackers clearly.
HIGH8.4 Respawning — Only respawn when the timer allows or when authorised by EMS or staff.
MODERATE8.6 Hospital Scenes — When taken to hospital, participate in medical RP. Don't rush out immediately.
MODERATE8.8 Mental Health RP — Portray mental health conditions respectfully and realistically. Consult staff for serious mental health storylines.
9.0

Metagaming

Metagaming is when a player uses real-life knowledge or information that their character wouldn't realistically have. It damages the integrity of RP and is taken extremely seriously — disciplinary action typically ranges from a three-day ban to a permaban.

9.7 No Real-World Trading: In-character goods, services, and information are under no circumstances to be traded for real-world money, goods, or services. This violates CFx Terms of Service and will result in an immediate permanent ban with no option for appeal.

CRITICAL9.2 External Information — Using information from Discord, streams, VCs, or any outside source is metagaming.
CRITICAL9.3 Cross-Character Information — Transferring information between your own characters is metagaming. Using criminal knowledge on a LEO character (or vice versa) is an extremely serious offence.
CRITICAL9.4 Player Status Checking — Using Discord, Steam, Epic, or FiveM status to determine if someone is online and seeking or avoiding them is metagaming.
CRITICAL9.6 In-Server Communication — All in-character communication must use in-server VOIP, not third-party apps like Discord.

9.1 Stream Sniping

Zero Tolerance: Stream sniping will result in serious disciplinary action — likely an immediate permanent ban. This includes using a stream to learn locations, communicating info in streamer chats ("I'm here", "go to Grove Street"), and any use of stream information in-game. Stream chats are regularly monitored by staff.

10.0

Cheating & Exploits

Zero Tolerance: Players found cheating will be permanently banned immediately with no chance for appeal. This includes all third-party tools (macros, aimbots, menus, overlays, scripts) and modification of FiveM/GTAV local files not sanctioned by Eclipse City staff.

10.2 Exploits

CRITICAL10.2.1 — Exploits include duplicating items, financial gains, glitching through walls/floors, or any game mechanic used in an unintended manner for unfair advantage.
CRITICAL10.2.2 — If you find a potential exploit, you are obligated to report it to staff immediately. Benefiting from an exploit without reporting it will result in disciplinary action. "I didn't know it was an exploit" is not an excuse.
CRITICAL10.2.3 — Players found exploiting face bans and the confiscation of items, property, or cash gained from the exploit.
11.0

Staff

HIGH11.1 — Be respectful and patient with staff at all times. They work hard and have lives outside of Eclipse City.
HIGH11.2 — Do not DM or directly @ any staff without their express permission. This includes developers, server owners, and senior staff.
HIGH11.3 — Disciplinary action will be taken against players who contact staff members without invitation or permission.
HIGH11.4 — Do not attempt to "escalate" tickets to server owners or keep "pocket staff." The staff assigned to your ticket handle it.
HIGH11.5 — All staff rulings are final. Undermining staff based on gender, rank, or similar factors will not be tolerated.
MODERATE11.6 — All in-server staff activity is automatically logged and regularly audited by staff and developers.
LOW11.7 — To report a staff member confidentially, directly message a Community Manager. Reporting will not impact your tickets or server standing.
12.0

  • Long-term storylines involving politics and power
  • Total city control

  • Suppressing or blocking RP opportunities

12.4 General Rules (All Tiers)

CRITICAL12.4.1 — One criminal group per person. No alt accounts to inflate member counts or bypass restrictions.
CRITICAL12.4.2 — All alliances and conflicts must be roleplay-driven. OOC-based alliances to circumvent rules are prohibited.
CRITICAL12.4.3 — All conflicts must follow proper escalation procedures. Initiating violence without appropriate IC reasoning is prohibited.
HIGH12.4.4 — Inactivity exceeding 14 days may trigger a staff review. Groups may be demoted or disbanded.
CRITICAL12.4.5 — Staff may review, demote, wipe, or disband any group for rule abuse, poor RP, powergaming, or inactivity. Staff decisions are final.

12.5 – 12.6 Promotion & Demotion

Crew
Gang
Organisation

Promotion requires: minimum active days, quality RP, clear leadership, no major rule breaches, and staff approval. Meeting requirements does not guarantee promotion. Promotion is at staff discretion and is earned through RP quality, not time or numbers alone.

Demotion may occur with or without warning for major rule breaches, powergaming, metagaming, excessive grind behaviour, or inactivity. In severe cases, staff may issue a full group wipe or disbandment.

12.9 Soft PK

CRITICAL12.9.1 — A Soft PK occurs when a character is killed in RP and respawns, permanently forgetting all gang/organisation affiliations and knowledge.
CRITICAL12.9.2 — Soft PKs require: clear RP reasoning, both parties present and aware, evidence (clips/screenshots), and the victim's acknowledgement.
CRITICAL12.9.4 — Soft PKs performed for malicious reasons or revenge are not permitted. The focus must be on legitimate gang consequences.

12.10 Hard PK (Staff Approved)

Hard PKs require mandatory staff approval before the scenario occurs. A Hard PK is the permanent deletion of a character and cannot be recovered. Executing a Hard PK without staff approval will result in disciplinary action including refusal of the PK being reversed. Once approved and executed, no appeals or reversals will be accepted under any circumstance.
